21st Century Leadership
21st Century Leadership is the foundation for a healthier, wiser Sunflower. Coupled with the corporate culture, individual leadership development remains the focus for organizational development within our company. Sunflower implemented 21st Century Leadership in 2004 when two employees learned they had participated in similar leadership programs through the Kansas Health Foundation, a foundation dedicated to making Kansas a great place to live, work and raise a family. During a survey conducted by the Kansas Health Foundation, leadership was identified as an essential piece for healthy communities. From this concept, 21st Century Leadership was born and shared with communities across the state.
Realizing the leadership capacities needed to build healthy communities could also build a healthier organization, we began developing a leadership program to share with all Sunflower employees. Through several series of leadership sessions, all employees have an opportunity to learn the leadership capacities. Today, employees embrace the corporate culture and practice leadership tools daily. We have leaders throughout all facets of Sunflower and believe in the concept that leaders create leaders who create leaders. Valuing the leadership program and its impact on the company's performance, Sunflower continues to evaluate and improve the leadership program in order to meet the organizational needs for the future.
