A Basic Guide To Making Electricity

Because many people have questions about electricity, Sunflower Electric Power Corporation wants to share some of this basic information about how it makes the electricity in its generating plants.

Most of the electricity (or power) used by people in western Kansas is produced by Sunflower. It owns and operates six power plants located in southwest Kansas near Garden City and Holcomb.

Because Sunflower is interested is teaching others about its coal supply, mining process, mode of transportation, and processes used to turn coal into electricity, this 16-page booklet was prepared for distribution.

Three versions of the booklet are available for downloading. The booklet can be downloaded as a 16-page, 8.5x11 format, or as a duplexed booklet in 8.5x11 or 11x17 format.

If after reading the booklet you would like to tour the Holcomb facility, please call (620) 277-2590, Monday through Friday, during business hours to arrange your visit.
