We believe the consistent application of these core values in reaching the “best answer” in all cases will best enable us to fulfill our mission statement of providing reliable, long-term power supply and transmission services to our Member-Owners at the lowest possible cost consistent with sound business and cooperative principles.

As used in this Statement, we define these personal characteristics in the following way:

Technical CompetencyBeing the most knowledgeable about our specific job or profession; the quality of being well qualified physically and intellectually to undertake a task; being committed to maintaining and improving our level of proficiency.
Respect and DignityA feeling or attitude of admiration and deference towards another person; treating someone with consideration and thoughtfulness. Seriousness, respectfulness, or formality in a person’s behavior and bearing.
AccountabilityAdopting the core values, and in a constructive manner, helping each other live up to our commitments and responsibilities; being invitingly and willingly responsible to help others live them as well. Integrity—Consistently doing what I say I am going to do. This value includes the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles and professional standards. It is a state of being complete, sound and reliable.
Trustworthiness
Reliably demonstrating that I am performing my function to the best of my ability for the company, to merit the trust and confidence of my colleagues, and to be dependable.
Servant LeadershipWorking to serve the legitimate needs of others to empower or otherwise enable others to optimally perform their job responsibilities, including adherence to Sunflower’s cultural norms; it is an approach to leadership development that emphasizes the leader’s role as steward of the resources (human, financial and otherwise) provided by the organization to him or her for purposes of accomplishing the mission.
