Sunflower Electric Launches New Website
Online tools estimate energy savings
Hays, Kan.—Jan. 26, 2009—Sunflower Electric Power Corporation unveiled a new website today complete with online tools for calculating both home and commercial energy use. The website redesign, which contains new visuals and smart navigational tools, creates a user-friendly and informative online site that can be accessed at www.sunflower.net.
“Our goal was to create a vibrant website that expresses the personality of our members and Sunflower,” said Cindy Hertel, communications coordinator for Sunflower. “As a cooperative, our goal is to serve our member-owners, and upgrading the website is one more way to better serve them.”
The website, designed by Atlanta,Ga.-based Apogee Interactive, features Apogee’s HomeEnergySuite and CommericalEnergySuite, along with special purpose calculators. In the upcoming weeks, Sunflower’s six member-owners will also have the EnergySuites and calculators available on their websites, customized for their system’s weather and rates. Consumers looking to lower their energy costs can browse the websites to analyze energy use and allow them to simulate various energy saving measures to see the corresponding dollar savings.
“Sunflower’s members selected the HomeEnergySuite and CommericalEnergySuite to supplement our consumer education efforts because of their ease of use and how well they approximate savings,” said Hertel. “Users can try changes like adjusting thermostat settings, turning down water heater temperature, adding storm windows or changing their heating system to see how much that measure might save. At Sunflower, we know, and our members know, that energy efficiency is part of a sound energy plan and is important to meeting consumers’ energy demands.”
The website also gives valuable information about the company, including career opportunities and links to Sunflower’s member-owners: Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative, Pioneer Electric Cooperative, Prairie Land Electric Cooperative, Victory Electric Cooperative Association, Western Cooperative Electric Association, and Wheatland Electric Cooperative.
