During my internship I spent my time working side by side with the line crew. This valuable experience enabled me to move into my current position as an apprentice lineman when I was hired on fulltime 5 months later. As an intern I was involved in building 3 substations, cleaning up after several tornadoes and building 5 miles of new line. I would say that my time spent as an intern at Sunflower went very well, which is why I still work here today. |

I have been employed with Sunflower Electric for seven years, and it has been a great place to work. There continues to be opportunity to learn more by attending conferences and being involved in large projects. At Sunflower, employees are often handed a lot of responsibility along with many resources for assistance. As an engineer at Sunflower, we are involved in several projects in different areas, so every day is challenging, interesting and different. |

My experiences as an intern could be best described as very beneficial and informative. It not only taught me about the responsibilities in managing the infrastructure of a generation and transmission utility, but also taught me about the professional work environment that I would soon be entering. Both are important experiences when preparing to transition from student to professional. |

As I look back on my career at Sunflower, I know I have been truly blessed. I’ve grown not only as an employee, but as a person. I started as a young woman of 21, and over the years I’ve married, had two daughters, and have become a grandma. I’ve never once in my 32 years at Sunflower felt my family didn’t come first. I have appreciated that more than anybody could know. Also, the security of my job and the benefit plan have been unbelievable. I have seen the ups and downs of Sunflower over the years, and the dignity that was maintained during those times is something of which I am truly proud. |
