President & Chief Executive Officer
Stuart S. Lowry joined Sunflower in 2011 when he was selected by the Sunflower Board of Directors to serve as Sunflower’s president and chief executive officer. Prior to joining Sunflower, Stuart served as executive vice-president and general counsel at Kansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc., the Kansas statewide organization. Stuart is a graduate of the University of Kansas and Washburn School of Law.
Sr. Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Kyle Nelson joined Sunflower in 1989 and was promoted to senior vice president & chief operating officer in 2008. He has worked with Sunflower’s generation expansion task force since May 2001. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Kyle became a licensed professional engineer in February 1993.
Vice President & Chief Information Officer
Bill Branch joined Sunflower in 2010 as vice president and chief information officer. Bill provides technology leadership and assists in Sunflower’s emergence into smart grid technologies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Dallas Baptist University and a master’s degree in acquisition and contract management from the University of Dallas. Bill is a published author within the information technology community and speaks at industry conferences as his schedule permits.
Vice President & General Counsel
Mark Calcara has served Sunflower through the Watkins, Calcara Law Firm, located in Great Bend, Kansas, for more than 25 years and was appointed as Sunflower’s general counsel in 2004. Mark earned his business degree from Kansas State University, his master’s of business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a juris doctorate from Washburn University.
Vice President, Member Services & External Affairs
Clare Gustin joined Sunflower in 1998 and was promoted to vice president of member services and external affairs in 2007. Clare is responsible for working with Sunflower’s Members and the western Kansas Rural Economic Development Alliance on economic development projects. She also assists the Members with Rural Economic Development Loan & Grant applications, interfaces with the public, and assists with all other member service issues. Clare is a graduate of Fort Hays State University, where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration.
Vice President, Corporate Services
Jana Horsfall joined Sunflower in June 1980 and was promoted to vice president of administration in 2007. Jana is responsible for Sunflower’s talent management, leadership programs, procurement, spare part inventories, coal supplies, and other administrative services. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Newman University and has earned several certifications, including the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association Materials Management program, the Institute for Supply Management as an Accredited Purchasing Practitioner and Certified Purchasing Manager. Jana is an accredited master facilitator for the Kansas Health Foundation.
Vice President, Power Supply & Delivery
Corey Linville joined Sunflower in 1993 and was promoted to vice president, power supply and delivery, in 2013. He is responsible for system operations, resource planning and power contracts. Corey is a graduate of Kansas State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He became a licensed professional engineer in July 1997.
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Davis Rooney joined Sunflower in 2008 as vice president and chief financial officer. Davis provides leadership for the corporate financial planning and financial services areas of Sunflower. Prior to Sunflower, Davis served 16 years as the director of resource planning and commodity analysis for Aquila, Inc. Davis graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in accounting, business administration, and mathematics.
Vice President, Transmission Planning & Policy
Dr. Al Tamimi joined Sunflower in 2001 and was promoted to vice president of transmission planning and policy in 2015. His responsibilities include planning and designing transmission and distribution facilities to meet the needs of the system. Dr. Tamimi also focuses on transmission and market policy issues, and effecting positive impacts on our system resources. He holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Wichita State University and a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University. Dr. Tamimi is widely published in industry publications and is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Dr. Tamimi became a licensed professional engineer in June of 2005.
