For Heather Keller, administrative assistant at Sunflower’s Hays office, singing the National Anthem is more than a performance; it's a meaningful way to honor the country she loves and those who have served it.
Heather recently performed the National Anthem before Hays Larks baseball games on June 19 and June 28 at Larks Park in Hays. She began singing at Larks games several years ago after responding to a Facebook post seeking local performers.
"I've had the honor of singing at games a few times each year," Heather said.
The opportunity brings together two of her greatest passions: music and patriotism.
"I love getting to sing the National Anthem," she said. "It's such a special song, full of history and meaning. I feel humbled and proud to have the opportunity to honor our country and those who fight to keep us free."
Performing the anthem has long been a personal goal for Heather, who hopes to one day sing it in a large arena.
In addition to performing, Heather has come to appreciate the Hays Larks organization through friends who host players during the season.
"They are a great team with kind, talented coaches and players, and I'm thankful Hays can support them here," she said.
Sunflower is proud to support employees who share their time and talents in the communities they call home. Heather's performances are one example of the many ways our employees make a positive impact beyond the workplace.
