Sunflower Electric Power Corporation will soon construct a new service center in the Concordia, Kan., Industrial Park. Construction is anticipated to begin during the fourth quarter of 2026, with completion expected in 2027.
Sunflower worked with Cloud County and the City of Concordia to identify and secure the site and will continue working with the county, city, and Prairie Land Electric Cooperative (one of Sunflower’s seven member cooperatives) to develop the site’s utilities and infrastructure.
Sunflower has maintained an operational presence in the Concordia area for many years. The new service center will continue this longstanding presence in the community while providing a more functional facility designed with purpose to support Sunflower’s employees, area field operations, and enhance safety and operational excellence.
“The new service center is an investment in the people and infrastructure sustaining Sunflower’s operations,” said William Wylie, vice president of safety and supply chain. “We’re building a facility to better support our Concordia team and give them space and capability to operate efficiently, respond effectively, and serve our member utilities for years to come.”
The new facility will be the hub for Sunflower’s field crews and operations in the area, and will include adequate storage for vehicles, equipment, and operational materials, along with workspaces designed around the team’s day-to-day needs. The site will also provide a more organized and functional environment for company assets and Sunflower’s Concordia team.
